After bringing down the deadly named monster Zeno Grable, Beryl returns from the dungeon attack a hero, but the showdown has left him with a damaged sword. At the same time, Curuni struggles with a dreadful losing streak, and Beryl suggests that she could do with a change in fighting style. The solution to both problems lies with the local blacksmith, Balder, who just so happens to be another one of Beryl's disciples!
